"My second home at Washington DC"

Reviewed February 3, 2012

The Madera, my new "abode" in Washington D.C, is a hotel that has a lovely character and noble attributes; the small lobby became a grandeur when the associates, vested with unselfishness personality, started helping and making me feel that I was at home.

"Hotel Madera, Near Dupont Circle in Washington, DC"

Reviewed January 23, 2012

I found this to be the perfect spot (large, comfortable and tastefully decorated room, accompanied by friendly service) for staying near a conference I attended recently. The conference was in a larger, more expensive hotel that (to my taste) was less attractive. I also enjoyed the adjacent Firefly Restaurant and the easy, pleasant walks to Dupont Circle.

"Perfect!"

We stayed at the Madera for a long weekend. The room was nicely decorated, quiet, and very comfortable. Our room was on the street side above the entry canopy, with a view of the Egyptian embassy. Even though it was overlooking New Hampshire Ave., there was very little street noise. However, it was very cold pretty cold outside so, the balcony door wasn't open for very long! The staff was delightful - our entire stay was a pleasure.

"A DC Charmer"

Reviewed January 19, 2012

I've stayed at this Kimpton Hotel on a number of times and it only gets better with each visit. You're warmly greeted by the staff and they eagerly meet all your needs and requests. The rooms are spacious, clean and fashionably upbeat. This DC Charmer is at DuPont Circle in an unsurpassed location, with easy transportation choices, DC exploration, dining and shopping. Wonderful bargain rates can be gotten if you are able to shop the dates.

"Spacious, comfortable room in a great location"

Reviewed January 19, 2012

Visiting on business, I appreciated the comfort of the room, the friendliness of the staff and the nearness to the DC Metro. DuPont Circle is a wonderful place to be with an abundance of eateries, shops and ambiance. The Hotel Madera provides an experience that is consistent with the Kimpton standard. The room was clean, surprisingly spacious, quiet and very relaxing. The wine hour included spiked cider and delicious samples of desserts from the Hotel's restaurant, the Firefly. I travelled with pets. The staff welcomed all of us and my dogs were uncommonly relaxed from the moment we arrived. No complaints at all.

"Wouldn't stay anywhere else"

Reviewed January 17, 2012

This was our 4th visit to the Madera. The staff is sincerely friendly and helpful - everyone! The neighborhood is wonderful - we always have our dog with us and love walking with him around Dupont Circle. It has an intimate feeling.

"My Home in DC"

I always feel welcome by the many familiar faces at the Madera. The staff are uniformly warm and helpful--never any 5-star attitude. They are accommodating of special requests like pet-free floor and early arrival, and they demonstrate a real appreciation of loyal InTouch members. Perfect location if you want Dupont Circle--I routinely walk to the Kennedy Center--and one of the best Kimpton-affiliated restaurants, Firefly.

"A Very Cool Place"

Reviewed January 3, 2012

Like a European hotel, the Madera feels like it's part of the fabric of its neighborhood--in this case the Dupont Circle area and Embassy Row. I suspect the building was formerly an apartment house, so the lobby area is rather small, but the rooms are spacious, comfortable, and nicely appointed. The staff is very sharp and attentive. We can't wait to go back.

"Great weekend!"

Reviewed December 6, 2011

Just stayed for 3 nights (Fri, Sat, Sun) and had a fantastic time. Huge room with very comfortable bed, great location SUPER close to subway and Dupont Circle neighborhood (truly less than a 3 minute walk), friendly staff and additional perks like.... cocktail hour between 5 and 6 (red and white wine, local beer, spiked and regular hot apple cider), cookies and milk between 10pm and 2am, AND if you sign up for the free Kimpton In-Touch membership you get a $10 credit for the room mini-bar and free wi-fi!

"Fun hotel in Dupont Circle."

Reviewed November 29, 2011

I've stayed at the Hotel Madera four or five times, I think. I keep coming back because it's a great place. The location couldn't be more convenient to the Metro and the hotel is within walking distance of the sights and sounds of Dupont Circle--plenty of great places to eat, drink, shop, and play tourist. The staff is very friendly...

"A perfect little hideaway in a big city!!"

Reviewed November 22, 2011

I had a fantastic stay at a well taken care of hotel right smack in the middle of the nicest area of DC for fun and entertainment. Once I entered the lobby I felt like I was entering a weekend spa retreat. The welcome was a great surprise!!! I was greeted by a very polished front desk associate who offered me a refreshing fruit water as I was checking in. The experience continued in my well decorated and comfortable room. Later as I was leaving for a meeting I was greeted by the General Manager Modi who made you feel right at home. I will definitely be back.

"Outstanding!!"

Reviewed October 11, 2011

This is the first time we have stayed in a Kimpton Hotel, and absolutely will again! The motto of the staff of the Madera seems to be "how can we make your stay better?" and "what else can we help you with?" The hotel is in an ideal location, the room was well designed and furnished, and we felt very welcomed. I can't imagine staying anywhere else in Washington, DC.
