Foggy Bottom Hotel in Washington, DC
Hotel Madera is a short walk from Foggy Bottom; a historic Washington, DC neighborhood that long ago served as the main industrial area of the District of Columbia. It's believed that the Foggy Bottom moniker is derived from the neighborhood's past when industrial "fog" covered the region. Today, George Washington University comprised much of the Foggy Bottom neighborhood.
Foggy Bottom is also home to important Washington, DC points of interest, including John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, United States Department of State headquarters, Watergate complex, American Red Cross national headquarters, embassies and dozens of other federal buildings. Foggy Bottom is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
